The Brown Equestrian team competed in their first show of the spring semester Saturday, February 28 at Wesleyan taking a fourth place finish in the event. The Bears are now in third place in the region with 240 points behind Roger Williams with 250 points and the University of Connecticut with 245 points.
In fences in the open competition, Alexis Marcuvitz took a second place finish with teammate Jamie Peddy finishing third. In intermediate, Gillian Heinecke finished second. In the novice competition, Heidi Abrecht took second with teammates Grace Peloquin and Mallory Kass both finishing fourth and Brigit Barbera taking a first place finish.
Marcuvitz took another top finish placing first on the flat in open competition. In intermediate, point rider Catherine Warshaw-Reid and Heinecke both had third place finishes. At the novice level, Rachel Roemer, Kass and point rider Barbera all had third place finishes for the Bears.
In walk trot canter, Jen Bain, Tally Forbes, and Connie Lee all had third place finishes and point rider Joanna Kels and Jenny Faust both earned blue ribbons. Walk trot point rider Jenny John placed first and Anna Mori took second.
The Bears will continue action Saturday, March 6 when they travel to the University of Connecticut at 9:00 a.m.
