ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown University equestrian placed fourth as a team and tallied 15 top-three individual performances at the Ivy Show on Sunday at Cornell University's Oxley Equestrian Center.
In the Bears' final team competition of the season, Brown registered seven second-place finishes and eight third-place finishes on the day.
Senior captain Kabisa Baughen (Sarasota, Fla.) came in second in her division in open fences while senior Samantha Spear (Chester Springs, Pa.) and junior captain Victoria Flagg (Great Falls, Va.) placed sixth and fourth respectively. In open flat, both Baughen and Spear notched second-place performances.
In intermediate flat, Guevara led the way with a second-place finish while both senior Clara Mae Maynard (Chilmark, Mass.) and junior Lily Hertling (Paris, France) posted third-place showings. Flagg rounded out the division with a fifth-place finish.
The Bears boasted seven competitors in novice fences with junior Alejandra Zamora (New Canaan, Conn.) pacing the group with a third-place finish. Junior Madison Kuhn (Lancaster, Pa.) and Maynard each checked in with a fifth-place showing, and sophomore Wallace Douglas (Ipswich, Mass.) and junior Elizabeth Rao (Andover, Mass.) each logged a sixth-place finish. Hertling and freshman Jordan Hanson (Berkeley, Calif.) both did not pin.
Competing in novice flat, Kuhn and Hanson recorded a second-place performance apiece. Douglas, Zamora, and Seto all placed fifth while Rao came in sixth.
In advanced walk-trot-canter, junior Sara Sellers (Washington, D.C.) placed second, and junior Rebecca Chernick (Weston, Mass.) came in fifth. In beginner walk-trot-canter, junior Genoveva Eguiguren (Quito, Ecuador) and senior Casey Fisher (Oro Valley, Ariz.) both placed second, and in walk-trot, freshman Sophie Starck (New York, N.Y.) and freshman Emma Ramsdell (Cambridge, Mass.) both charted third-place finishes.
Next, Seto and sophomore Yinan Liu (Shanghai, China) will close the season for the Bears at the IHSA National Championships from May 4-7 in Lexington, Ky., at The Kentucky Horse Park.
