Brown Equestrian Still First in Region After Fall Season
Providence, R.I. – Brown fought its way to another first-place finish at the Johnson & Wales show this weekend, narrowly edging host JWU, by just one point. The Bears now stand in first place in their region with 250 team points, 31 ahead of second-place URI.
The day started with the open fences and saw point rider Jackie Lubrano pin third for four points, while Rebecca McGoldrick placed first in her group.
In the intermediate fences point rider Amanda Picciotto pinned fifth while Cara Rosenbaum took second in her class.
The novice fences is where Brown made there move up to first place as point rider Hailey Roumimper pulled out an incredible ride for first place and seven team points. Points with a drop: Brown and JWU 11, RWU 9, Becker, Holy Cross and URI 8, UMass and Clark 7.
In the open flat Lubrano pinned first for another seven points, while McGoldrick won a blue ribbon on Karigold qualifying her for a High Point rider ride off or know off.
The novice flat saw point rider Hallee Foster second as Brown took hold of the lead with 26 points, two ahead of URI, Johnson & Wales and Roger Williams.
Walk trot canter point rider Hannah Estlund pinned first as the Bears clinged to a one point lead over URI
With such a close score, it came down to the walk trot. Point rider Morgan Johnson placed second which gave Brown 38 total points, one ahead of second place Johnson & Wales.
