PROVIDENCE, R.I. – At the 2011 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Nationals, senior Elise Fishelson (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) placed fifth overall in the Cacchione Cup Standings. Fishelson totaled a score of 159.5 (78.5-Phase I; 81.0-Phase II), to beat out 31 other riders.
Fishelson qualified to go on to the flat phase of Cacchione cup on the first day of competition. Only the top 24 of the 36 competitors in the fences phase advanced on to Phase II. Entering day two, Fishelson stood in eighth-place overall.
After Phase II, the senior standout moved up to fifth-place, just missing a spot in the final round. Callback for the championship ride-off was chosen by the IHSA's panel of judges, which chose the top three to battle it out for the Cup. In previous years, the top-10 was chosen for the ride-off.
In walk trot event, Karolina Woroniecka (Great Neck, N.Y.) pinned eighth in a strong class of the nation's top-10 riders.
