Brown Equestrian Wins Ivy League Show
Ithaca, N.Y. – Brown Equestrian picked up another big win this weekend, sizing up against the five Ivy League schools. The Bears were in a close battle with Cornell all day with the team score tied entering the final event of the day. In the Walk Trot, point rider Laura Kirk placed first while the Big Red's took second, giving Brown a two-point win over Cornell.
Several Brown riders chipped in impressive performances at the Ivy show, but none bigger than Kirk. Had she judges seen a single misstep, it could have been the difference between a win, and a second-place finish for the Bears.
Allison Dungey picked up Brown's initial first-place finish in the Intermediate Fences. Cara Rosenbaum followed suit in the next event, the Novice Fences, claiming Bruno's second blue ribbon of the day.
Brown took first in both the Walk Trot Canter and the Walk Trot. Kirk's performance led to the win, but Kathryn Gouinlock preceded her with a first-place finish of her own which set up the Bears for the victory.
