The Brown equestrian team wrapped up their fall season over the weekend, using a hot start to the show to take a comfortable first place finish at Wesleyan, and extend their lead in the season standings to 20 points. Junior rider Allegra Aron led Bruno, picking up a pair of blue ribbons, and finishing third in the point rider standings on the day.
The day began with Open Fences, which proved to be a strong event for the Bears. In the opening class, freshman Lindsay Wong pinned second in her first career ride, followed by Aron's first win of the day in the next class. Senior point rider Liz Giliberti then took another first in the third class, giving Brown the early lead.
Over Intermediate Fences, junior Emily Bourdeau earned another first for the Bears, though point rider Rebecca McGoldrick took third in her class in her first Intermediate show. The four points were enough to give Brown a narrow 11-10 lead in the early going, a margin that held up through Novice Fences as both teams used their drop.
As the action moved to the flat, Aron quickly picked up another first, earning her a spot in the ride off for high point rider at the conclusion of the show. Giliberti then followed with a fourth in her class, gaining important points in the Cacchione Cup standings, as she now sits second by just three points.
After picking up three points in Intermediate Flat, Bruno got a nice ride from rookie Ellie Sharpe in the Novice Flat. Sharpe pinned second in her first career event, earning Brown an important five points to maintain a 22-19 lead. In Advanced Walk Trot Canter, freshman Anna Baker picked up a first in her class, pointing up to Novice in the process. The Bears then wrapped up the show with a first in Walk Trot by freshman Karolina Woroniecka, giving them a 29-24 final win.
