John Barrett joined the Brown Athletic Staff in May, 2001 as the Assistant Business Manager/Travel Coordinator. He currently holds the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Business Management. His responsibilities include verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of departmental expenses and income of the overall $14 million dollar budget, planning, organizing and controlling the daily business operations for the athletic departments' 37 varsity programs, managing all team travel and supervision of a number of varsity programs. Prior to coming to Brown, Barrett spent the previous year at Fordham University in New York City as the Assistant Business Manager where he oversaw all business and ticket operations for the athletic departments' 17 varsity teams. Barrett graduated from Fordham University in 1999 with a B.A. in Communications and Media Studies and has a Master of Science in Sports Management from Virginia Commonwealth University. While at Fordham, he was a member of the varsity basketball program. Barrett currently resides in Providence. |
