The Bears earned a close 3-2 win in the first game before falling 9-8 in nine innings in the second game of the day.
GAME 1: Brown 3, Yale 2
Brown finished the game with eight hits, with two coming from Jasmine Hsiao and Macy Borowski collected another complete game victory as the Bears beat Yale 3-2 to begin the day.
Borowski collected another nine strikeouts over her seven innings of work. The junior scattered five hits and six walks as the Bulldogs left 10 runners on base.
The scoring started in the second with back-to-back singles from Abby Bettencourt and Cameron Zytkewicz Ray starting the inning. After a groundout moved the runners up 60 feet, Lilly Burns hit a sac fly to score Bettencourt.
Yale tied up the game with a two-out single in the bottom of the third but the Bears answered right back with their own two-out rally.
Burns started the rally in the top of the fourth with a single and Elli Thompson drew a walk. Jasmine Hsiao singled to score Burns. An error on the next at bat allowed Thompson to score and make it 3-1.
Another two-out single by Yale in the fourth cut Brown's lead to one but Borowski got out of the inning with a groundout, leaving the bases loaded.
Borowski then buckled down, stranding a triple in the fifth and a runner at second in the sixth, while picking up all six outs during those innings on strikeouts.
In the seventh, a two-out walk put the tying run at second but Borowski induced a pop-up to second to end the game.
GAME 2: Yale 9, Brown 8 (9 innings)
The Bears dropped a heartbreaker in game three of the series, falling to Yale 9-8 in nine innings. Brown finished the game with nine hits as both Cameron Zytkewicz Ray and Lilly Burns each picked up two. Burns drove in three runs for Brown and Zytkewicz Ray and Elli Thompson each drove in two.
Macy Borowski, who entered the game in relief in the sixth inning, picked up her first loss in her last four appearances.
Brown's pitching staff was bitten by walks as the Bears walked 19 batters.
The Bears started the game off strong loading the bases with one out in the first inning. An error by Yale on a ground ball by Zytkewicz Ray brought home Maya Choksi and Lily Berlinger to make it 2-0. Burns then singled home Abby Bettencourt and Zytkewicz Ray, putting Brown up 4-0 after one.
Yale scored a run in the third, but the Bears responded with Elli Thompson singling home Kaicee Klus and Jasmine Hsiao.
Edie Cobb, who started for Brown, had worked around eight walks through the first five innings with only allowing one run. The luck ran out as Yale started the fifth with a double and three-straight walks brought home a run took Cobb out of the game. Annie Finch entered and walked two more before Borowski came on in relief with the score now 6-4. Yale would score again on a sac fly and a two out single put the Bulldogs up 7-6.
Brown's first two batters of the seventh were hit by pitches and moved to second and third by Maggie Foxx's bunt. A sac fly by Bettencourt tied the game and a scoreless bottom of the inning sent the game to extras.
Both teams left runners on base before Brown broke through in the ninth. With two outs, Bettencourt reached on an error and a single by Zytkewicz Ray put a runner in scoring position. Burns then singled to right to score Torii Ramirez, who entered the game as a pinch runner.
The walks then plagued the Bears in the ninth as Borowski walked five-straight batters to bring home two runs for Yale to end the game.
