



Bears Fall to #19 St. Cloud State, 5-1, in First Game of 2010
January 2, 2010With the score, 2-1, in favor of St. Cloud State (9-7-3) at the start of the third period, the 19th-ranked Huskies exploded for three goals in the final 20 minutes to claim a 5-1 victory the Brown men's hockey team (5-8-1) on Saturday evening at the National Hockey Center. Sophomore Jeff Buvinow (Turnersville, NJ) scored the lone goal for Brown, which saw its five-game winning streak come to an end.

Men's Hockey Set to Return to the Ice after Three-and-a-Half Week Hiatus
After closing the first part of their schedule on a five-game winning streak, the Brown men's hockey team (5-7-1) is set to return to the ice to begin the 2010 calendar year with a two-game series at St. Cloud State this weekend. The Bears have been off since December 8, a 5-2 win over AIC, taking a three-and-a-half week break for exams and the holidays. This weekend's series, to be played on Saturday, January 2 and Sunday, January 3, will begin a stretch of six straight road games for the Bears, who will not be home again until January 29th against RPI. Both games this weekend begin at 6:07 p.m. CST and will be streamed on B2 Networks.

American Holds Off Brown, 76-68
Junior Nick Hendra scored 18 points and junior Vlad Moldoveanu added 15 points to lead American to a 74-68 non-league win over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The loss drops Brown to 5-9 overall, while American moves to 3-11. Brown junior Peter Sullivan led all scorers with 19 points, and completed his first career double-double with a game high 11 rebounds. Sullivan connected on 9 of 9 free throws and 5 of 9 field goals.
