Bears Rally for 62-59 Win Over CCSU

Providence, RI – It was not until senior forward Natalie Bonds (Tavares, FL) hit a jump shot with 3:33 remaining that the Brown women’s basketball team (1-2) took its first lead of the game, but the Bears’ resiliency paid off in a come-from-behind, 62-59 win over visiting Central Connecticut State University (1-3) at the Pizzitola Center on Saturday evening. Sophomore Aileen Daniels (Waldwick, NJ) paced the Bears with a career-high 17 points, many coming during crucial runs, as Brown earned its first victory of the 2009-10 season.

Bears Fight Back from 4-1 Deficit to Force Overtime, but Fall, 6-5
Junior Harry Zolnierczyk (Toronto, ONT) had two goals, including the game-tying goal, and an assist to lead Brown, but #9 Yale (3-2-2, 2-1-2) scored 2:32 into overtime to claim a 6-5 victory over the Brown men's hockey team (0-6-1, 0-4-1) on Saturday evening at Meehan Auditorium.

Bears Defeat MIT, 7-6, at Men's Water Polo Eastern Championship
Cambridge, MA- Goalie Kent Holland (Sr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) made a tournament high 17 saves between the pipes to earn Player of the Game honors and help his team rally back from 5-3 deficit entering the fourth quarter as the Bears tallied a 7-6 OT win in the second consolation game of the 2009 Men's Eastern Championship. The win places Brown into the fifth place game on Sunday against the Rams of Fordham University.

Men’s Soccer Set to Take on North Carolina Tomorrow
Chapel Hill, NC- The Brown University men’s soccer team will take on No. 5 seed North Carolina at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow at Fetzer Field in the second round of NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament. The Bears feature an 11-2-5 overall record, while host UNC owns a 13-2-3 record. North Carolina will have a free webcast of the game that will be available on TarHeelBlue.com.
