Kirchberg, Cairo Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Men’s water polo senior utility Tyler Kirchberg and women’s volleyball senior libero Melissa Cairo have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Oct. 30 to Nov. 5, Brown announced on Monday. 

Tyler Kirchberg, Men’s Water Polo, Senior, Orinda, Calif.
Senior utility Tyler Kirchberg recorded seven goals, three assists, two steals, and four ejections drawn last week as No. 16 Brown went 2-0. A native of Orinda, Calif., he posted four goals, three field blocks, an assist, a steal, and an ejection drawn in a 13-11 win over No. 13 Harvard. Kirchberg registered three goals, two assists, a steal, a field block, and a sprint won in a 13-11 win over MIT.

Melissa Cairo, Volleyball, Senior, Hillsborough, Calif.
Senior libero Melissa Cairo tallied 58 digs (6.44 per set), five service aces (0.56 per set), and eight assists last week. A native of Hillsborough, Calif., she registered a match-high 34 digs alongside four assists and an ace in a four-set match vs. Dartmouth on Friday. She posted 24 digs, four aces, and four assists in a 3-2 comeback win over Harvard on Saturday.
