Lattanze, Steeves Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Wrestling sophomore 133-pounder Nick Lattanze and women’s basketball junior forward Erika Steeves have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 1-7, Brown announced on Monday.

Sophomore 133-pounder Nick Lattanze won the 133-pound weight class to lead wrestling at the David H. Lehman Franklin & Marshall Open on Saturday at the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center. A native of Norristown, Pa., Lattanze won five straight bouts to claim his first tournament title as a collegiate wrestler. He defeated opponents from Pittsburgh, Temple, Rutgers, Brown, and Appalachian State on his way to the crown, including a pair of technical fall victories.

Erika Steeves, Women’s Basketball, Junior, Montreal, Quebec
Junior forward Erika Steeves posted career highs for points (38), field goals made (14), and 3-pointers made (eight) in a 100-79 win over Johnson & Wales on Friday. A native of Montreal, Quebec, she scored the second-most points in a single game in school history and connected on the second-most 3-pointers in a single game in program history. She shot 14-of-18 from the floor, 8-of-10 from downtown, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line, while adding six rebounds and three assists.
