PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Men’s tennis freshman Ching Lam and softball sophomore catcher Raquel Blanchard have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Apr. 23-29, Brown announced on Monday.

Freshman Ching Lam came back in the third set of his match to give the men’s tennis team a 4-3 win over Yale University on Saturday to close out the season. The Sai Kung, Hong Kong native defeated his opponent, senior Fedor Andrienko, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, in fifth singles. Lam finished his rookie campaign tied for second on the team in singles wins with 22 and tied for the squad lead in overall doubles wins with 18.
Raquel Blanchard, Softball, Sophomore, Valencia, Calif.
Sophomore catcher Raquel Blanchard posted a .400 batting average last week with a trio of two-run doubles to help lead Brown to its first series win against Harvard since 2004. A native of Valenica, Calif., she concluded the series with six RBIs, three doubles, two runs scored, and a .700 slugging percentage. In a 3-2 win in game two on Saturday, she tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth with a two-run double. In Sunday’s 11-3 win, she went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, two doubles, and two runs scored.
