Sophomore Matt Lorito (Oakville, Ontario) scored a goal in each of Brown's three ECAC Quarterfinal games against #16 Rensselaer this past weekend, helping lead the Bears to its first ECAC Semifinal berth since 2010.
In Friday's 3-1 win over the Engineers, Lorito, the Bears' leading scorer, put the team on the board in the first period, giving them a 1-0 advantage over the home team. While Brown fell, 6-2, on Saturday, forcing a third game in the playoff series, Lorito brought the team within striking distance in the second stanza, narrowing Rensselaer's advantage to one with his power play goal. Finally, in Sunday's deciding contest, he scored his 20th goal of the season, as the Bears skated to a 3-2 win. With the tally, Lorito became the first Brown player since Damian Prescott '98 to score 20 or more goals in a season.
The Bears will travel to Atlantic City, New Jersey this week to face-off against the #1/2 Quinnipiac Bobcats in the ECAC Semifinals. The puck is set to drop at 4:00pm on Friday, March 22.
