BrownBears.com will feature one former male and female student-athlete each month who has gone on to achieve success in the workplace, as well as exhibit the spirit of Brown University within the community. The monthly installments will provide highlights of the selectees’ athletic careers at Brown and offer a glimpse into their current career paths.
Michelle Pagliaro (Haywood) ’94 stands as one of Brown’s most decorated basketball players in history after excelling during the Bears’ run of three consecutive Ivy League championships from 1991-94. Pagliaro, a native of Shelton, Connecticut, ranks 12th on Brown’s all-time scoring list with 1,084 points and second with 435 assists in 106 games.
After a thrilling win over Dartmouth in a one-game playoff, the 16th seeded Bears battled strong against then third-ranked UConn, tying the game at halftime before ultimately falling 79-60 at Gampel Pavilion. That final game marked the end of Pagliaro’s basketball career, but she found her calling after graduation.
Pagliaro transitioned from College Hill to the National College of Chiropractics in Lombard, Illinois, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1997. She has spent the previous 16 years at the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center in Trumbull, Connecticut, concentrating in chiropractic care for expecting mothers and the treatment of sports injuries.
Over the years, Pagliaro has served as the Team Chiropractor for Sacred Heart athletics and still currently is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Services at the University of Bridgeport. She also serves on the board of directors for several organizations including the Shelton Parks and Recreation Commission and the Shelton Education Endowment Fund.
Pagliaro was part of Brown’s eight-member Hall of Fame class inducted in 2012.
