Gourley and Mills Elected to UCS Positions

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Men’s diver Sazzy Gourley (Charlotte, N.C.) was elected Vice President of the Undergraduate Council of Students while men’s crew member Walker Mills (Wynnewood, Pa.) was elected Chair of Campus Life, as announced by UCS Elections Board Chair, Heather Sobel on Friday.


“Both Sazzy and Walker embody the spirit of a Brown student-athlete, performing at a high level in their respective sports and providing key leadership to the student body.  We are proud to have these motivated student-athletes who are able to have such a positive impact on the Brown community,” said Director of Athletics, Jack Hayes.


Gourley, a sophomore and a top-five Brown diving performer in the 3-Meter event, garnered 67-percent of the vote from 2,991 undergraduate ballots.


Mills, a junior who rowed in the bow of the varsity four that finished third at the 2013 IRA National Championships, earned the Chair of Campus Life appointment with 51-percent of the vote.
