Jeanne Carhart Named Assistant Sports Information Director at Brown

(July 20, 2000) -- Jeanne Carhart has been named the new Assistant Sports Information Director at Brown, replacing Beth James, who retired from the position last week.

Carhart joins the Brown staff after spending a year as a sports information intern at Towson University in Towson, Maryland. While at Towson, Carhart served as the primary media contact for volleyball, women's basketball and women's lacrosse in addition to her other daily responsibilities. She also assisted with both the men's basketball and baseball AMERICA EAST Tournaments. In June, Carhart worked at the STX Festival and women's lacrosse North/South All-Star Games.

A 1999 graduate of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey with a BA in Psychobiology, Carhart worked as a student assistant to the sports information director for two years. She served primarily as a men's and women's basketball statistician at Drew, but also assisted with several other sports. During her senior year, Carhart had the opportunity to run Drew's Fall Festival, a men's soccer and field hockey tournament. She was also an integral part in the Rose City Classic, a men's and women's basketball tournament and the men's lacrosse invitational. In addition, Carhart was a four-year member of the women's lacrosse team, including one as the manager.

A native of Manasquan, New Jersey, she has also coached at the lacrosse camp at Drew for the past four summers.
