PROVIDENCE, RI - The 4.3 million Meehan Auditorium Renovation project has nearly been completed with both the men's and women's teams practicing in the rink for nearley two weeks.
The renovation project transformed the building into the one of the best rinks in the East. As part of the first upgrade since the opening of Meehan in 1962, the entire lobby area was reconfigured and significantly enhanced to include new ticket booths and concession areas and four new visiting locker rooms.
In addition, there is a new hospitality room overlooking the ice on the Hope Street side of the building. The Bears' locker rooms have been changed dramatically to include larger lounge areas and a modern athletic training facility along with brand new lockers and equipment areas. New lighting was also added over the ice, as well as new NHL dasher boards and glass, and new windows around the top of the rink.
