Meehan Renovation Project Underway

April 19, 2002

Providence, RI - The 4.3 million Meehan Auditorium Renovation project is in full swing, producing noticeable changes to the exterior of the building. Construction crews are hard at work, chipping away at the front of the rink, completely dismantling the front wall. In addition, the locker rooms and training room on the home bench side have been completely gutted.

The project, set to be completed by mid-September 2002, will enlarge and reconfigure the lobby area (including new ticket booths and concession areas), and add four new visiting locker rooms underneath the South stands. The current Brown varsity locker room complex under the North stands will be reconfigured to provide more expansive accommodations for Brown's men's and women's ice hockey teams, as well as a modern athletic training facility. Also included in the project is the construction of a new, more spacious Brown Hockey Association Room that will overlook the East end goal.

A number of naming opportunities are still available as part of the renovation project. If you would like to find out more about how you can play a leadership role in this effort, please contact Ron Dalgliesh '93, Executive Director of the Brown Sports Foundation at 401-863-1900, or e-mail at .
