Frank Walsh was a two sport athlete at Brown; he co-captained the 1971 football team and made All-Ivy and honorable mention All-East as a junior. But it is as a wrestler that he excelled above all. Wrestling in the heavyweight division, he represented Brown at two NCAA championships, advancing to the second round both times. His overall record for Brown was 30-3-1, with twelve pins. He compiled twenty consecutive regular-season wins beginning in his sophomore season, and finished both his junior and senior seasons undefeated. As a sophomore Walsh went 12-3-1 and finished second in the NCAA District One tournament. His senior season was marred by an eye injury which kept him out of his first four scheduled meets, but he went on to finish 6-0-0 after that. After college he coached at high schools in Warwick, RI., Fairfield, Maine, and most recently at Massebesic High School in Maine, where he is assistant principal. He also served as assistant wrestling coach at Brown in 1975-76, and accompanied the team to the 1976 NCAA tournament. He and his wife, Jane, live in East Waterboro, Maine.
