Zoltan Szabo was captain of St. Joseph’s HighSchool’s swim team when they won the New Jersey statechampionship. He was selected a high school All-American.

At Brown, he immediately made an impact on Ed Reed’s Brownteam. Zolie was a team swimmer who moved from event to event whereneeded. Many times he was utilized as the anchor on relays when astrong finish was essential.

The successes of the team in his junior and senior years were ina large degree due to Szabo’z outstanding performance. He wasAll-Ivy for three years and All-East junior and senior years. He isthe only swimmer to be “most valuable” awardee threeyears in a row – 1982, 1983 and 1984.

A co-captain his senior year, at the time of his graduation heheld the following Brown records: 200 freestyle, 400 freestylerelay, 200 fly, 100 fly, and the 800 freestyle relay.

Zolie received his MBA from NYU and is currently associatedirector of financial analysis for the Bristol-Myer Squibb Company.He and his wife, Marianne, make their home in Hillsborough, NewJersey. He notes, “Ex-swimmers make good skiers, but lousygolfers.”
