Kevin T. Slattery '76
Year Inducted: 1992
Kevin Slattery, co-captain of the 1975 team, was a quiet, unassuming young man who played with great intensity. He had many great moments as a running back, but many Brown football fans remember his heroics in the 1974 Harvard game at Harvard Stadium. Kevin carried 15 times that day for 68 yards, caught 4 passes for 55 yards, and scored the winning touchdown late in the game to beat an undefeated Harvard team. Coach Anderson feels that this game finally proved to Brown fans that the Bears could win. During his senior year, Kevin rushed for 750 yards, which was a record. There is no question that Kevin was a key figure on that '75 team that turned Brown's football fortunes around. Kevin was married to Catherin Fiske in 1990 and seemed to have everything to look forward to. Unfortunately, five months later Kevin passed away from complications related to acute leukemia. In an effort to memorialize Kevin and what he stood for, the Kevin T. Slattery Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established at Brown.
