Tracy Goldstein Shemano '87
Year Inducted:

There’s a vice president at Merrill Lynch in California who holds many “mosts” in the Brown softball record book, and that person is Tracy Goldstein Shemano. Following her graduation from Brown, Tracy obtained her MBA from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at NYU.

Following her graduation from Islip High School, where she was All-Suffolk County, All-Long Island and the pitcher on her team that was All-League Champs for three years in a row, she arrived on College Hill where she achieved many more honors.

Coach Phil Pincince said recently, “The amazing thing about Tracy was that she wasn’t a windmill pitcher. She threw sling shot. She didn’t have a drop or a rise ball. She knew how to pick corners. That’s why she was so effective.”

Here are some of her accomplishments…

  • Pitched five no-hitters
  • Won 50 games
  • Pitched Brown to Ivy Champs in 1986
  • Second Team All-Ivy in 1984, 1987
  • First Team All-Ivy in 1986
  • Career Pitching Records- most victories – 50; most shutouts – 21; most strikeouts – 212; most innings – 541
  • Single Season Records – best ERA 0.79 (1986); most shutouts 9.5 (1986); best won and lost 15-6 (1986)

A team player, Tracy was a winner of the Most Team Spirit Award in 1986. An outstanding athlete, Tracy completed the New York City Marathon in 1993. Currently, Tracy resides in Los Angeles with her husband, David, and her son, Daniel, who was born in October of 1996.
