Chris Schille is one of the finest runners ever to compete for Brown…indoors, outdoors, and cross country. Some of Chris’ record achievements are as follows.

  • Current Brown recordholder 5000 meter run indoors
  • Former Brown recordholder 5000 meter run outdoors
  • Former Brown recordholder 10,000 meter run outdoors
  • Current Brown recordholder at Van Cortland Park (site of the Heptagonal Championship.)

Some of Chris’ other achievements…

  • Cross Country – NCAA Division I All-American (1986, 1987); 10th place finish, NCAA (1987); Heptagonal/Ivy Champion (1987), runner-up (1986); All-Ivy (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987)
  • Track – NCAA Division I All-American (1988); 7th place finish NCAA 10,000 meters (1988); Heptagonal/Ivy Champion 10,000 meters (1987)

Chris didn’t stop running when he left Brown. In 1988 he finished 7th in the US Nationals (cross country). In 1993 he won the Reebok Grand Prix Race in San Francisco, defeating a field that included two Olympians and five other runners who competed for the US at the World Cross Country Championships. Chris runs for the Reebok Aggies, a running club supported by Reebok.

Currently, he is a grad student in computer science at California Polytechnic State University. Chris and his wife, Wendy Smith Schille ’87, live in Moraga, California.
