Rodman C. Scheffer '50
Year Inducted: 1971
Rodman C. Scheffer ’50, a starter for three successive years in the Brown goal, was named to the All-American second team as a senior. An agile goalie with quick reactions, Scheffer also was a highly competitive athlete. He posted seven shutouts in his career and in his senior season allowed but nine goals in nine games as the Bruin booters won the New England championship. Scheffer was outstanding in the nets that year when the Bruins pinned a 3-2 defeat on the University of Connecticut, 1948’s national champions, their first loss in 17 games. Scheffer was All-New England goalie twice and received an invitation to the Olympic trials in 1948.
