Willis Richardson '99 was one of Brown's finest broken-field runners of the early years and was a Walter Camp second team All-American choice in both 1898 and 1899. A shifty runner with good lateral movement, Richardson ranks third among all Brown players in points scored with 136 and in extra points with 48. He kicked Brown's first field goal in 1898, a 35-yard dropkick against Newton A.C. had a 40-yarder the following fall against Dartmouth. Willie Richardson still holds two Brown records, an 108-yard return of a Princeton fumble in 1899 and an 80-yard return of a blocked field goal in the Colby game.
