Olaf G. H. Oden '21
Year Inducted: 1971
Olaf G. H. Oden '21 weighed only 150 pounds, but he had the legs, the brain, and the heart to becoming one of Brown's finest athletes. A dancing, shifting runner with good speed, Oden electrified the fans at old Andrews Field with his broken field runs. As a senior, the Bruin signal caller scored eight touchdowns and passed for five. His 85-yard return of an intercepted pass against Springfield is the fifth longest in Brown history. A spectacular fielding shortstop and timely hitter, Curley Oden had a tryout with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He also played hockey brilliantly and was a member of an independent ice polo team which won the championship of New England.
