E.C. Meulhaupt came to Brown from Des Moines, Iowa as one of the best wrestlers in Iowa high school history.

The Dowling high graduate burst onto the scene in 1986 by recording a 16-5 mark and capturing Brown’s first ever Ivy League Rookie of the Year honor in wrestling. The former high school state champion recorded the most pins on the team with four, and was a Second Team All-Ivy selection at the 158-pound weight class, placing fourth at the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships.

In 1987, E.C. was off to his best season ever, compiling an 8-0 record, before suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for most of the season.

E.C. had another stellar season in 1988, compiling a 25-9-1 overall record with three pins. Competing in the 167-pound weight class, Meulhaupt was named All-Ivy Second Team, placing fifth in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships, earning a berth in the NCAA Championships in Ames, Iowa.

Meulhaupt continued his outstanding career as a senior, co-captaining the team and rolling up a perfect 19-0 regular season record. Wrestling in the 158-pound weight class, E.C. had his best finish at the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships, finishing second and qualifying for the NCAA’s in Oklahoma City. Overall, he was Brown’s first four-time EIWA placewinner.

E.C. received his MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 1995. He is currently a Management Consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Inc. residing in Chicago.
