Arthur F. Merewether '22, famed as a flawless fielder, played three years under Coaches Pattee and Snell. The 5-10, 155-pound second baseman was known widely for his ability to dive through the air to knock down sure base hits and to go back quickly on Texas Leaguers. Although not a strong hitter, Merewether's fielding was always considered of major league caliber. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates during the 1922 season.
