William Margeson ’37 was the super star of Brown soccer.In his senior season, Margeson was the driving force as the Bruinswent through an undefeated season (6-0-2) and captured the NewEngland Soccer League title. His 12 goals were tops in the league,doubling the total of his nearest rival. Margeson scored thethree-goal hat trick as Brown defeated Yale, 3-1, in 1936, thefirst soccer victory over the Blue. Brown’s star centerforward also had the hat trick against both Clark and Tufts thatseason. Margeson, who shares Brown’s all-time single-seasonscoring record, earning All-East recognition his senioryear.
