Paul F. Mackesey '32 was outstanding in both football and lacrosse on College Hill. A graduate of Lynn Classical, the 6-2, 195-pound Mackesey played three years of varsity tackle and captained the 7-3 Bruins of 1931. Coach Tuss McLaughry utilized Mackesey's speed by using him as a running guard on offense. The rangy Bruin earned All-East and honorable mention All-American rating in both his junior and senior seasons. Mackesey played pro football with the Pere Marquette eleven, N.E. champs in 1932, and was a pro box lacrosse player with the Boston Shamrocks. Serving as athletic Director at Brown from 1947-62, Mackesey is currently Executive Alumni Officer of the University.
