Robert S. MacConnell '52 was one of Brown's few three lettermen of the past several decades. Captain of the 1952 baseball team, second baseman MacConnell was a flawless fielder and a fine pivotman on the double play. He led the Bruins in batting three years in a row and was an All-League choice. MacConnell was a rugged rebounder in basketball and became the Ivy League's leading punter in 1950 with a 39.2 average. A money player in all three sports, the 6-0, 190-pound MacConnell played two years of professional ball.
