Irving A. "Shine" Hall '39 gained more than 1,000 yards rushing and scored 106 points in his three varsity seasons. In 1938, Hall gained 954 yards by running, passing, and runbacks, which was 51% of his team's total. He led the East and was second nationally that year with 69 points and paced the East in the return of punts and kickoffs with 378 yards. The 6-1, 195-pound halfback holds the modern Brown single-game scoring record, putting 27 points on the scoreboard in his famous duel with Sid Luckman of Columbia on Thanksgiving morning of 1938, in a game won by Brown, 36-27. The All-East back played professional football with the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles.
