Mian "Mike" Gulian '23 played four years of varsity football and served as captain of the 1922 team. During Gulian's years, Brown was 22-12-3. Coach Robinson once said that he never saw Gulian moved out by an opposing lineman. A 60-minute performer, Gulian was known as a rough, tough, but sportsmanlike athlete. The "Armenian Prince" was selected by Walter Camp to his third All-American team in 1922, becoming the first man of his nationality to be so honored. The bruising tackle played professional football with the Buffalo All-Americans in 1923, the Philadelphia Yellow Jackets in 1924, and the Providence Steam Rollers the next three seasons.
