Current Brown senior standout Theresa Hirschauer may be considered her contemporary; Frances Fusco, a four year letter winner in women’s soccer, is one of only five players named First Team All-Ivy four times. Her name is ubiquitous on Brown’s record list. With final career stats of 28 goals and 20 assists for a total of 76 points, Frances stands fifth on the Brown career goal list, and fifth on the Brown career point list. Her freshman year she scored five goals in the first Eastern Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Region I Soccer Championship Tournament held at Brown and recorded a four goal, two assist game versus Dartmouth. The fine forward led the Bears to their first Ivy League title, in 1980, and was named Ivy League Player of the Year as well as Tournament MVP. The following year she was named First Team All-New England by the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association and went on to lead Brown to its second Ivy title in 1982. Fran was also a two-time Ridgely Team MVP award winner in 1980 and in 1982.
