Elmer T. Duggan '26
Year Inducted: 1971
Elmer T. Duggan '26, a stocky fireballing left-hander, may have had more speed than any pitcher who ever worked for Brown. To go with his blazing fast ball, Duggan had good control for a southpaw. On top of all this, he was a tough competitor. Duggan pitched all the way in the famous 20-inning game with Providence College, won by the Friars, 1-0, after five hours. That day he struck out 29 P.C. batters, walked five, and allowed only five hits. At the time, this was the longest college game ever played.
