Elmer T. Duggan '26, a stocky fireballing left-hander, may havehad more speed than any pitcher who ever worked for Brown. To gowith his blazing fast ball, Duggan had good control for a southpaw. On top of all this, he was a tough competitor. Duggan pitched allthe way in the famous 20-inning game with Providence College, wonby the Friars, 1-0, after five hours. That day he struck out 29P.C. batters, walked five, and allowed only five hits. At the time, this was the longest college game ever played.
