Jerry Donini arrived at Brown a very good athlete and with hard work he became a star. He feels that he had very good coaching from Ted Gibbons, Bob Otrando and Robert Weird, but all of them agree that Jerry’s work ethic had a great deal to do with his success. As a shot-putter he was a triple crown winner. He consistently performed at championship meets at the Outdoor Heps. He won the event with a school record toss and a week later he won the New Englands. He then proceeded to win the IC4A’s. Jerry’s success continued during the indoor season, where he set meet records at the Heps and the New Englands; and, of course, he won again at the IC4A’s. A first-team All-Ivy indoors and outdoors, first-team All-New England indoors and outdoors, and first team All-East indoors and outdoors, he also received the Herbie Leavelle Award as the MVP of Brown’s track and field team. Jerry is currently a commodities broker at the Chicago Board of Trade, and he and his wife, Lisa, reside in Chicago.
