John Daniel, co-captain of the '83 football team came to Brown from Concord, Massachusetts, where he won All-League, All-Area and Boston Herald All-Scholastic Honors while at Concord Carlisle. He also attended Hotchkiss where he served as co-captain and won All-League honors. At Brown, he was co-captain of his freshman team. A middle guard, John garnered All-Ivy honors for three successive years and as a senior he was top man at this position in the Ivy League. In two seasons he had 87 tackles and followed it up with 78. Perhaps John's most memorable game was the fine showing his team made against Penn State before 90,000 fans. He also had a memorable day against the Eli's when he made 14 tackles, and later that season he had 16 against Holy Cross. In to his all-Ivy selections he also was selected All-East. John Anderson feels John was "the best nose guard I had while at Brown." John is currently in life insurance sales. He is married to Catherine Carolan Daniel and they reside in Dedham, Massachusetts.
