A transfer from the University of Denver, Gretchen arrived on the Brown soccer scene as a sophomore and led the team in scoring, gaining selection on the first-team All-New England and second team All-Ivy. A member of three Ivy championship teams, coach Phil Pincince rates her as one of his all-time greats. As a senior in 1984, Gretchen and her teammates reached the NCAA final four and achieved a final national ranking of #2. In 1984, Gretchen was co-captain and was selected All-American, All-Ivy, All-Northeast, and All-New England. In the summer of 1985, she toured China with a women’s select team. Following her graduation she enrolled and graduated from the University of Colorado Medical School. She and her husband, Greg, reside in Chicago where she is completing her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago-Northwestern.
