Dr Jay D. Ambrosini '67, a member of Brown's Henley crew of 1966, was one of the University's most versatile and effective oarsmen. As a freshman, he rowed number seven in a boat that finished second in IRA's. The next spring he moved to the other side of the boat, rowing number four on the crew that came in third in the Easterns. Coach Vic Michalson moved Ambrosini back to number seven in 1966, a move that helped the crew finish second in the Easterns, fourth in the IRA's, and gain an invitation to row at Henley, England. As captain of the 1967 oat, Ambrosini moved back portside and served as stroke. According to his coach, Ambrosini was a captain who led by example, a man who earned the respect of his teammates. A native of Long Beach, California, and a graduate of Culver Military, Ambrosini earned his M.D. at the University of Cincinnati and is currently a resident in radiology at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is the son of Benjamin Ambrosini '41.
