Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center
Officially opened in May 2012, the Moran Coleman Aquatics Center is the home to Brown Swimming & Diving and Water Polo, and considered the fastest pool in teh Northeast. The million-gallon pool — 56 meters long and 9 meters deep —is the swimming pool for varsity competition and recreational use, has three-meter diving, seating for 400 spectators overlooking the pool, and a state-of-the-art video HD scoreboard.
A system of movable bulkheads will allow simultaneous activities by different groups and could increase recreational swimming time. The pool is considered the fastest in the Northeast.
The pool is solar-powered, with 168 dual-technology solar panels located on the roof providing enough electric and thermal energy to power the pool lights and regulate water temperature.
The facility has hosted the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men's Eastern Championships, the 2013 Men's Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships, where numerous IVy League records were broken, the 2013 CWPA Women's Southern Divisional Championships, and the 2013 Rhode Island Interscholastic League Championship. Brown will also host the 2014 Women's Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships.
