Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center
The Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center opened in May 2012 and is home to the Brown University swimming & diving and water polo teams. The million-gallon pool is 56 meters long and nine meters deep. Used for varsity competition and recreation, the pool has three-meter diving, seating for 400 spectators and has a state-of-the-art HD video scoreboard.
A system of movable bulkheads allows separation of the pool into three different sections for simultaenous activities by different groups. The pool is solar powered with 168 dual-technology solar panels located on the roof, providing enough electric and thermal energy to power the pool lights and regulate water temperature.
The facility has hosted the 2012 and 2013 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men's Eastern Championships, the 2013 Men's Ivy League Swimming & Diving Championships, the 2013 CWPA Women's Southern Divison Championships and the 2013 Rhode Island Interscholastic League Championship. The pool is also set to host the 2014 Women's Ivy League Swimming & Diving Championships in February.
