Alex Roy joined Brown's compliance staff in November 2015 as the Assistant Athletic Director, Compliance. Before coming to Brown, he most recently served at Northeastern University as the Assistant Director of Compliance where he was responsible for education and monitoring efforts for 19 teams with a focus on the areas of recruiting, initial eligibility, continuing eligibility, and playing and practice seasons.
Roy's experience also includes a stint at the University of Michigan where he assisted in providing compliance services to 31 teams. He has also had previous compliance experience with Central Connecticut State University and Johns Hopkins University. Prior to his career in athletics compliance, Roy worked for the firm Namanny, Byrne & Owens in Laguna Hills, Calif., where he assisted professional athletes in workers compensation claims.
A native of Essex, Conn., Roy graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in history. Roy earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law and is admitted to the Maryland State Bar.
