Lyndsey Maurer came to Brown in September of 2006 as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. In this capacity, Maurer handles the publicity for 11 of Brown's 37 varsity teams, including men's soccer, women's basketball, men's and women's water polo, men's and women's cross country, track & field, softball and gymnastics. Maurer is responsible for updating brownbears.com, writing, designing and editing publications such as media guides and game programs, and producing/editing video highlights for teams.
While at Brown, Maurer won a 2011 Brown University Excellence Award, and was named Sports Information Director of the Year by the Collegiate Water Polo Association three times for achieving notable excellence in the field of water polo communications. She has volunteered at the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship first and second round games hosted at Providence College, and the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship games hosted at the University of Rhode Island.
Prior to Brown, Maurer worked at the Sun Newspaper in Cleveland, Ohio where she worked as both a news and sports reporter covering city politics and high school athletics. Before that, Maurer worked at Robert Falls & Company Public Relations.
A native of Broadview Heights, Ohio, Maurer is a 2004 graduate of St. Bonaventure University where she earned a B.A.in Journalism/Mass Communications and was a four-year member of the women's basketball team in the Atlantic 10 Conference. She is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, ECAC-SIDA, and Words Unlimited.
