Position: Head Athletic Trainer

Russ Fiore has been a member of the Brown University training staff since August of 1979 and recently assumed the position of Head Athletic Trainer at Brown.

Born in Providence, Fiore graduated from Cranston East High School in 1968 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education from the University of Rhode Island in 1972. He received his Master's degree in physical education from the University of Arizona in 1974, and studied in a special graduate program at Northeastern University from 1977-79. He also worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Arizona from 1973-74 before moving to Northeastern as a staff athletic trainer from 1974-79.

Fiore is the inventor of a special machine that is now used by many schools to treat ankle injuries. Fiore recently designed and developed a revolutionary new ankle brace that is used by several NBA players and athletes at all levels.

An avid golfer, Fiore resides in Lincoln, Rhode Island, with his wife, Karlene. They have two children, Matthew and Melanie, and three grandchildren, Patrick, Peyton and Chase.
