Davies Bisset is no stranger to the University and to the
Division of Advancement here at Brown. After graduating with
a degree in History in 1985, Davies worked for Brown’s Alumni
Relations and Development office for seven years. He opened
and managed a regional campaign office for major gifts, in Los
Angeles, CA and helped to cultivate a new generation of donors for
the University. He staffed six volunteer committees on the west
coast during Brown's last campaign, identifying and recruiting more
than 100 new volunteers. Davies directed activities of 60+
Brown alumni chapters worldwide, led volunteer training programs
and created an alumni task force to strengthen geographic areas and
increase club membership in advance of the University Campaign for
the Rising Generation. In his role, Davies also served as
liaison with the Brown Sports Foundation coordinating all "Brown on
the Road" athletic events with alumni clubs and volunteers. After
leaving College Hill, Davies spent almost ten years working in the
insurance world for Rollins Hudig Hall Insurance Brokers, Inc. and
Amica Insurance.
Most recently, and for the past seven years, Davies has worked in
Development for the University of Virginia. He started as the
Senior Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Chair, 50th
Anniversary for the Darden School of Business at UVA. In this
role, he directed the internal operations of Darden School's alumni
relations department and after three years, he was promoted to the
Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations for
the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at UVA. Davies
has provided senior-level leadership and counsel to the dean,
associate dean, trustees, and development colleagues on individual
giving and alumni relations in the midst of a $150 million capital
campaign for the School of Engineering within a University-wide $3
billion campaign. Davies also assisted the associate dean in
managing an eight member staff and 48 member board of trustees and
was responsible for managing a portfolio of 200+ donors and
prospects. Davies impressed the search committee with
his proven leadership and management skills in mission-driven and
goal-oriented environments and his deep passion for Brown
University and our athletic programs. His extensive
background from the University of Virginia and Brown in major and
principal gift fundraising, volunteer management and alumni
relations certainly provides him with the professional experience
necessary to lead the Brown Sports Foundation to new levels of
success.
Davies is a native Rhode Islander and he and his wife Megan have
three daughters. We are extremely excited to have Davies join the
Brown Advancement team and to have him lead the Sports Foundation
during this important time.
