Matthew Letendre, the Assistant Director for Athletic Engagement, joined the Sports Foundation Staff as a Development Assistant in October 2012.
As Assistant Director, Matt manages the Parents Athletic Leadership (PAL) Council and the Friends Organizations which are two of the main volunteer groups for Brown Athletics. In this role, Matt works with the athletic administration and head coaches to build a stronger relationship with the athletic constituents of the University. He focuses on fundraising and creating an alumni network that benefits the current student-athletes, their families, the alumni and Brown’s Athletic Department.
Prior to his work as Assistant Director, Matt was the Friends Association Manager for the BUSF. His work with the alumni volunteer groups resulted in more teams reaching their fundraising goals in the 2013–2014 school year than ever before, with increased alumni participation for the majority of the programs.
Matt joined the Sports Foundation staff as a Development Assistant in October 2012. In this role, he managed all administrative functions for Brown Athletic Advancement. He directly supported the Executive Director, Davies Bisset ’85, with his fundraising work and planning. He also assisted in the coordination of the BUSF Board of Directors.
Prior to coming to Brown, Matt attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in Philosophy. During his time at UK he worked with the Student Athletic Council assisting with event preparation and management. Before transferring to UK, he was a two sport athlete in Basketball and Golf at Clarke College.
He currently resides on the East Side of Providence.
